Thread for discussing the current state of world politics

It sure is a crazy world, I wonder if things will ever get better? I know that good times come and go, but it feels like they have been going more and more lately. I wish that America would invest more in walkable communities where people could be closer to their neighbors and develop a sense of belonging. It seems like the isolation experienced in the american suburbs is deeply unhealthy for social beings like us. Am I right?
